This is one of a series on fire. According to native Americans, fire is a living being or beings. It is considered an aspect or relative of the sun, sometimes referred to as “ray of the sun”. The native pray to “the one who lives beyond the sun” not the sun itself. The power of the sun resides in the fire, its essence in the glowing coals, and so this very powerful force must be treated with great respect.
