They call it “The Sublime Obsession”
La Sublime Ossessione
They call it “The Sublime Obsession,” and the title itself is a warning: it won’t be a walk in the park. It’s an exhibition, of course. But it’s also a confession. An invitation to take a trip inside the mind of someone who collects, not for a living or because it’s fashionable, but because he can’t help himself. Someone who looks at an object, a small work of art, and feels that without it, he cannot go on. Someone who puts together pieces of the world as if he were trying to build himself a second life—perhaps more real than the first. The curator is Christian Palazzo, someone who seems to know that slightly crazy mix of passion and necessity well.
The space is the SV – Centro Espositivo San Vidal, in the heart of Venice, which still knows silence. The exhibition lasts until October 24, but if you really want to see it, you have to go earlier, when the obsession is still hot. As soon as you enter, you are struck by a kind of organized disorder.
